This past weekend we took Caleb to a great 3rd birthday party at an old Denver firehouse. It was Charlie's 3rd birthday and all the kids got to dress up like firemen and play on the fire trucks. Caleb wasn't feeling very well, so we were nervous about bringing him (see sick eyes below), but we are SO glad we did because once he got there he had the time of his life!
Caleb got his very own fire hat, and after a quick examination, decided immediately that he preferred to rock his backwards. At first mommy and daddy thought it was a little strange, but later we learned that firefighters actually do turn their hats around when fighting fires to keep the water out of their faces. We guess Caleb knew that all along because he just looked at us like we were crazy when we asked him to turn it around. We really love that our little man is a leader and not afraid to blaze his own path, even if everyone else thinks he's crazy!
After pizza (which Caleb refused to eat - shocker) they lined all the kids up and took them downstairs to listen to a speech on the history of the firehouse and firemen. The lady giving the speech asked the kids to raise their hands if they like spaghetti. Of course all of the kids raised their hands, and because Caleb likes pasta so much, he decided to go ahead and keep and his hand raised for the rest of the remainder of the lady's speech.
When it was finally time to put on the firefighter uniform and ride the truck Cae was first in line. He looked adorable in his little outfit and had so much fun.
We love the new smile Caleb is working now. We call it his cute smile, sort-of a IknowyouarejusteatingthisfaceupandIcandowhateverIwant smile.
A boys birthday party at the firehouse was such a great and unique idea. Mommy and daddy have no idea how we can top that for baby boy's 3rd birthday. Any ideas? We were thinking maybe we could rent out a Cadillac dealership for the day? Too much?
