Life With Embozini

We're all smiles round here...

Embozini even smiles when he's sleeping...

We just can't put into words how much we love this little munchkin.

The Sweetest Note Ever

Lately we've been working on writing with Caleb. If you catch him in a good mood (which is rare these days), he can write every letter of the alphabet without help.  It's pretty impressive to see the level of detail and concentration he puts into getting the letters just right. Recently he's gotten really good at writing his name, so we took video of him writing it so we could show the teachers at his new school (just in case he tried to pretend he couldn't do it).

Apparently he's ready to move on to something a bit more difficult though because yesterday he wrote mommy the sweetest note. Daddy helped him with the spelling a little, but the writing he did all by himself. Maybe we need to use words other than "cab", "cat", and "ball" in our nightly hangman games. He's clearly too old for such little words.

I'm going to save this picture forever.

Baby Emory

It is truly amazing how time flies. Just three months ago you were simply a little creature taking residence in my belly, and now you are such a part of our life that it seems like you have been here all along.

You are growing and changing so fast if we blink we might miss something. You still have the full head of hair you were born with, and people still stop us everywhere we go to comment on it. We do our best to make it look presentable, but it has started to resemble Jack Nicholson's hair in The Shining, spiky and crazy, the perfect opposite of your mellow personality. We love it.

You have officially out grown your newborn clothes, and are pushing your 0-3 month clothes to the limit. We already miss the smallest version of you, but you like to eat so you are only getting bigger. We have learned quickly that you do NOT come between you and your food. You are going to pass up your brother in no time we are sure of it.

You will only sleep in the boppy on the couch or in mommy or daddy's arms. Don't even think about lying you down in your bassinet. We have tried countless times to nurse you, rock you, and sing you into a comma and then lay you gently down to sleep in your nice and still brand new bed, only to have you wake up and scream the minute your head touches the mattress. S#it you must be crazy. But the minute your back in our arms you are fast asleep again rejoicing in your victory. Emory: 60, Parents :0.

You wake up almost every morning at 6AM and smile big, gummy smiles. They are usually accompanied by a chorus of grunts and coos, and sometimes a five-alarm diaper explosion. Once we get a look at your sweet face it's impossible to go back to sleep.

You love to take baths. Our little fish.

You have already rolled over 3 times...on the floor, not the bed so it counts. You are going to be the muscle round here.

You are always happy after you eat.  We should take photos after every meal. You couldn't be more content, milk still dripping from your chin, a big ol belly, and a smile from ear to ear.

You make the funniest faces. Our favorite is the Ooooo face. It's a real crowd pleaser.

You are your own little man, and it's been so exciting getting to know you these past two months darling.

We love love love you Em.
